exactly what the other answer stated. its when one woman cannot conceive or carry a pregnancy to term and so they implant her fertilized eggs into another woman (the surrogate) and that woman carries the pregnancy for her. at the end the baby is then given to the mother, not the surrogate and i believe the surrogate has no rights to the baby or anything like. and also if the womans eggs are bad they might use donor eggs.
A surrogate mother is a woman who carries the baby in her womb for another woman who cannot bear children.
